...female Blackbacked Jackal walks unconcernedly past the resting Spotted Hyena. This would ordinarily never happen, because they are arch enemies. The hyena would kill them!.....[Mombo, Botswana '09].
The Odd Trio is comprised of three species living together and sharing the same food. All of the guides with whom I consulted, had never before seen three different carnivore species [Wilddog (f), 2 pair of Blackbacked Jackals (1pair with 3 pups), and a Hyena (m)], living and sharing food together for several months now. Ordinarily, these three species are inimical.....[Mombo, Botswana '09].
