Black Swan Family
1st image: A Black Swan Family: the male (cobbe), female (pen), and chick (cygnet) were swimming peacefully until another male, from across the lake, invaded their territory and caused a brisk, but brief, fight between himself and the resident cobbe. Black Swan Attacks Intruder
The resident Back Swan fighting the invading cobbe (male). The latter was trying to take over the pen (female) of the resident male (cobbe). The latter had to fight to defend and retain his pen and cygnet. Note that each male reaches over the other's back and fiercely bites the feathers and flesh of the other. After a few minutes, The invader gave up and swam back to his own area, and peace was restored. [Blue Lake (Lake Tikitapu), Rotorua, North Island, New Zealand].
